Miami Herald Release 10-4-2007 For Immediate Release August 24, 2007 The Teacher's Lounge Opens Its Doors to Stressed Instructors New Social Network Events Provide Educators in Miami-Dade County A Much-Needed outlet MIAMI - August 23, 2007 - A new series of events titled "The Teacher's Lounge" is providing a social outlet for teachers to network and socialize in an upscale, yet professional atmosphere. Vivid Blue Holdings, LLC will be hosting the series throughout the 2007-2008 school year. The first one kicks off at the Carnival Center (1444 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) on Sept. 28th. Teachers Need Social Time too! Lawyers have their $100-a-plate tuxedo dinners in which to mingle... businessmen engage in power luncheons with their colleagues in which to network... and doctors' tee-time is always par-for-the-course! However, when it comes to teachers, there is no place to retreat to when we are in need of uplifting, or are simply in need of someplace to relax and mingle with our own. With impending salary issues, newly introduced accountability policies and procedures, and standards raised on a yearly basis on our state test, teachers' motivation and morale have hit all-time lows giving way to a massive exodus of Education Professionals. The teachers lounge was created for teachers, by teachers, to serve as a venue for Miami-Dade County's non-instructional, instructional, and administrative personnel to network and lift morale while enjoying fine cuisine and mind-shattering music. Teacher appreciation dinners and school-sponsored banquets are nice...but they don't address our needs, in some cases, they provide more stress since we spear-headed most of them anyway. Where is our outlet? The Teacher's Lounge is about to change how we appreciate teachers! |
